The development of backup system of disaster recovery is in the high-speed growth phase in China. Self-build backup system is the most popular trend currently, 91.7% of existed backup systems. But this way of system construction is time consuming, and demands much investment of capital in management and technologies. Outsourcing is a common way of worldwide DR backup system building. Some problems need to be handled in order to ease the prosperous of outsourcing in China.

 

The first problem is the insufficient outsourcing service providers, limited service programs and low professional level of services. Comparing to foreign countries’ DR backup industry, which has been developed over 20 years, we have got few successful sample programs in China. While Chinese people always attach much importance to the results of practical cases, especially to build up confidence before the launch of key projects, few sample examples weakens their enthusiasm in outsourcing. Lack of DR backup professionals and technical staffs is another obstacle. China is in urgent need of technicians specialize in DR backup requirement analysis, strategy making, system operation and management & maintenance etc. The last but not the least, as outsourcing of DR backup system relates to confidentiality and privacy assurance, market cannot develop well without the establishment of appropriate industrial standards and criterions.
